MEDICAL ADVISORY PLAN

Managing pre-existing condition in the outdoors

Ensuring we can manage potential risks that may impact pre-existing conditions.

YOUR MEDICAL ADVISORY PLAN

Outdoor education programs with BOE are centred in a semi-wilderness setting, meaning professional medical care may be from one to six hours away. We operate in all weather conditions and programs involve regular physical exercise and activities and may include: bushwalking (with expedition packs), camping, cycling, rock climbing, high ropes, rafting, or canoeing.

To ensure we understand how to manage pre-existing conditions in these locations, you may be asked to have a Medical Advisory Plan completed by your treating physician/treating team. A Medical Advisory Plan (MAP) is required for all people with heart conditions and may be used for people with epilepsy if they do not have a current management plan. A MAP may also be requested for any other serious conditions requiring non-standard management or frequent medical treatment.

Please download this Medical Advisory and have it completed by your treating team.
